Learning the Right Way, at the Right Pace
Our coaching philosophy is based on one simple belief: players improve best when they are coached at the right level, with the right equipment, in the right environment. Tennis is a technical sport. If a child uses a racquet that is too heavy or a ball that is too fast, learning becomes harder. If a beginner is placed in a group that is too advanced, they may lose confidence. If a promising player is not challenged enough, they may stop progressing. Good coaching means understanding these differences and creating the correct pathway.
At Timeless Tennis, we use age-appropriate and level-appropriate coaching methods. This means younger players begin with equipment and activities that suit their size, strength, coordination, and confidence. As they improve, we gradually introduce more advanced skills, faster balls, larger courts, stronger movement patterns, and more match-based training. For us, tennis should be serious enough to create progress, but enjoyable enough to keep players coming back. That balance is at the heart of Timeless Tennis.

Private and Semi-Private Coaching
Our Private and Semi-Private Coaching sessions are ideal for players who need more personal attention, faster correction, focused development, or a training plan tailored to their specific needs. Private coaching allows the coach to work directly with one player. This is useful for beginners who need careful guidance, players who want to correct technique, competitive players who need focused match preparation, or adults who prefer individual attention.
Semi-private coaching offers a similar level of focus while allowing two or a small group of players to train together. This can be a good option for friends, siblings, or players at a similar level who want personal coaching with the added benefit of rallying and interaction. These sessions can include technical correction, serving, footwork, rally consistency, point play, tactical awareness, confidence building, and match preparation.

TEMPO Tennis is our fitness and matchplay squad. Tennis is a movement-based sport, and players need more than good technique to perform well. They need speed, endurance, rhythm, recovery, balance, and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
TEMPO Tennis helps players improve their physical and competitive side. Sessions may include fitness drills, movement patterns, live ball play, point situations, match scenarios, and competitive exercises. This programme is useful for players who want to become fitter, more confident in matches, and more comfortable handling pressure during point play.

The TNT Squad is our high school performance squad for players ready for more serious development. This programme is designed for teenagers who want to improve their competitive ability, represent their school, prepare for matches, and develop stronger performance habits.
The TNT Squad focuses on consistency, footwork, fitness, tactical awareness, point construction, serving, returning, match pressure, and mental strength. Players are encouraged to work hard, stay disciplined, and take responsibility for their improvement. This squad is ideal for players who are committed to growing their game and want to move beyond basic lessons into a more focused training environment.

Little T’s Tennis is designed for pre-primary learners in Grade RR and Grade R. This programme introduces very young children to tennis in a fun, safe, and age-appropriate way. At this stage, the goal is not to create pressure. The goal is to help children enjoy movement, learn basic coordination, listen to instructions, track the ball, balance, swing a racquet, and feel comfortable on court.
Children learn through games, playful activities, simple challenges, and positive encouragement. They begin to understand tennis as something fun and exciting. These early experiences are important because they build confidence and create a strong foundation for future learning. Little T’s Tennis is a wonderful way for young children to become active, improve coordination, and develop a love for sport from an early age.

Our Red, Orange and Green Ball Squads are designed for players aged approximately 7 to 13. These squads follow the progressive tennis development pathway and help children move through the correct ball stages as their skills improve. Red ball is used for younger or beginner players. It is softer, slower, and easier to control. This allows children to rally sooner and learn proper technique without being rushed.
The orange ball is the next stage. It is slightly faster and helps players develop more court coverage, better timing, and stronger rally skills. Green ball prepares players for full-court tennis. It is closer to the standard game but still easier to manage than the yellow hard ball. This stage is important for building confidence before moving into full yellow ball play. Squad training gives children the chance to learn with others, develop discipline, enjoy friendly competition, and begin understanding matchplay in a structured environment.

We largely support Wilson, as it is one of the most trusted and respected brands in tennis. By supporting a strong tennis brand, we help our clients access reliable products that support proper development.
Understanding Customer Needs
Our product support is not only about selling equipment. It is about helping players and parents make the right choices. Many parents are unsure which racquet size their child needs. Some players are not sure which grip, string, or ball type suits them. Adult beginners may not know where to start. Competitive players may need more specific guidance on equipment.
Expert Guidance & Fitting
At Timeless Tennis, we aim to guide you honestly and practically. We help players choose equipment that suits their age, strength, level, and goals. For young players, this may mean a smaller racquet and a softer ball. For developing juniors, it may mean progressing to a longer and slightly heavier racquet. For advanced players, it may involve more detailed decisions around racquet feel, string tension, grips, and accessories.
Equipment & Merchandise
Our merchandise and equipment offerings may include racquets, tennis balls, grips, strings, bags, training aids, accessories, and other tennis-related products. If you require anything associated with tennis, speak to our team. We will do our best to provide it or help you source it.
Growing Tennis Through Schools
Timeless Tennis currently runs school programmes at Laerskool Kenmare and Krugersdorp High School. These programmes focus on developing and improving student participation through proper structure, coaching, and support.
Schools play a major role in introducing children to sport. For many learners, school is where they first discover tennis. However, school tennis needs structure to grow. Without organised sessions, clear levels, coaching plans, and participation systems, many children may never get the chance to experience the sport properly.
We believe school tennis is essential to the future of the sport in South Africa. By working with schools, we can expose more children to tennis, identify talent, encourage active lifestyles, and build a stronger local tennis culture.
School Tennis Programs
Timeless Tennis helps schools create a stronger tennis environment. We support student participation by implementing coaching structures that make tennis more accessible and enjoyable. This may include beginner groups, development squads, school team preparation, matchplay sessions, and guidance for players who show promise.
Primary School Tennis
At the primary school level, the focus is often on participation, fun, coordination, and early skill development. Children need to feel welcome on the court. They need to learn in a way that suits their age and confidence. By making the introduction positive, we help more learners stay interested.
High School Tennis
At the high-school level, tennis often becomes more competitive. Learners may want to represent their school, improve their match performance, or prepare for inter-school fixtures and tournaments. Timeless Tennis supports this by offering structured performance training, matchplay preparation, and development support.
Clear Progression Pathways
Our school programmes also create a bridge between school tennis and academy coaching. A learner who enjoys tennis at school can move into a suitable Timeless Tennis programme for further growth. This helps build stronger participation and gives promising players a clear path forward.
Coaching Options For Every Stage Of The Tennis Journey
Timeless Tennis offers a range of coaching programmes designed for different ages, skill levels, goals, and development stages. Whether a player is starting from scratch, building confidence, improving school performance, preparing for matches, or moving towards competitive tennis, we have a programme that can support their growth.
A Complete Tennis Development Experience
Choosing the right tennis coaching provider matters. Players need more than someone who can feed balls across the net. They need structure, care, knowledge, encouragement, and a pathway that makes sense. Timeless Tennis offers a complete development environment where players can start, grow, compete, and stay involved in the sport for years. Most importantly, Timeless Tennis is driven by passion. Tiaan Henning and the Timeless Tennis team believe in cultivating tennis in South Africa and helping players develop both skill and love for the game. Tiaan Henning and the Timeless Tennis team believe in cultivating tennis in South Africa and helping players develop both skill and love for the game.
Player-Centred Approach
One of the main reasons families choose Timeless Tennis is our player-centred approach. We do not place every player into the same mould. We look at the individual. Some children need extra confidence. Some need better coordination. Some need technical correction. Some need more challenge. Some simply need to have fun and fall in love with the sport.
Our Driving Force
Another reason is our use of age-appropriate equipment and coaching methods. By using the correct ball stages and racquet sizes, we make tennis easier to learn and safer for growing bodies. This helps children enjoy success sooner and develop better technique. Most importantly, Timeless Tennis is driven by passion.
Our Range of Offerings
Our programmes also cover a wide range of needs. From Little T’s Tennis and junior squads to high-school performance training, fitness, matchplay, private lessons, school programmes, and merchandise support, players can remain within one clear tennis environment as they progress.
Understanding Parents
We also understand parents. We know that parents want guidance, value, and reassurance. They want to know that their child is safe, learning properly, and enjoying the experience. Our free assessment, structured programmes, and clear communication help parents feel more confident in the journey.
Start with a Free On-Court Assessment
The best way to begin your Timeless Tennis journey is to book a free on-court lesson assessment. This assessment helps us understand the player’s current level and recommend the right programme.
For parents, this is especially helpful. You may not know whether your child should join a fun beginner group, a red ball squad, private coaching, school tennis, or a more serious development programme. You may also wonder whether your child is ready for tennis, what equipment they need, or how often they should train.
Our assessment gives you clear answers
During the assessment, we look at the player’s coordination, confidence, movement, ball control, listening ability, technique, and general readiness. For older or more experienced players, we may also assess rally ability, serving, footwork, consistency, and match understanding.
The assessment is relaxed and encouraging. It is not a test that players need to fear. It is simply a helpful way for us to guide them into the right programme from the beginning.
From First Swing to Confident Matchplay
The Timeless Tennis player development pathway is designed to help players progress naturally. Every player starts somewhere, and every stage matters.
For young beginners, the pathway starts with fun, movement, and confidence. Children learn how to hold a racquet, track a ball, move their feet, balance, swing, and enjoy being on court. These early lessons create the foundation for everything that follows.
Tennis Development
As players grow, they move into more structured skill development. They begin to understand the difference between forehands, backhands, volleys, serves, and rallies. They learn how to move into position, make contact, recover, and control the ball.
ITF Ball Progression
The ITF ball progression plays a key role in this journey. Red ball helps beginners succeed early. Orange ball introduces more challenge. Green ball prepares players for full-court tennis. Yellow ball, the standard hard ball, is introduced when players are ready for the full speed and demands of the game.
Racquet Progression
Racquet progression supports the same idea. Smaller racquets help young players move and swing safely. As they grow stronger and more skilled, racquets become longer and heavier. This gradual process helps players develop correct technique without unnecessary strain.
Understanding Tennis
As players become more confident, they enter squad environments where they train with others. Here, they learn rallying, scoring, discipline, teamwork, and friendly competition. They begin to understand that tennis is not only about hitting the ball, but about thinking, moving, and making decisions.
Equipment & Merchandise
For more committed players, the pathway leads to performance training, fitness, matchplay, school representation, and possible tournament preparation. These players need stronger habits, better focus, tactical understanding, and resilience.
Personalised Coaching
The pathway is not the same for every player. Some will enjoy tennis socially. Some will compete for their school. Some may show potential for wider competition. Timeless Tennis supports each journey with honesty, structure, and care.
Clear Guidance for Every Family
Parents are an important part of every child’s tennis journey. They provide transport, encouragement, financial support, emotional support, and commitment. We understand that this can feel overwhelming, especially when parents are unsure about the right path.
At Timeless Tennis, we aim to make the process easier. We help parents understand where their child fits, what programme is suitable, what equipment is needed, and how development works.
Balancing Fun and Serious Training
Many parents ask whether their child should play for fun or train more seriously. The answer depends on the child. Some children need a relaxed, enjoyable introduction. Others show strong interest and may benefit from extra training. Some develop slowly at first and then improve quickly later. Others show early talent but still need patience and balance.
Fostering Love for the Game
At the primary school level, the focus is often on participation, fun, coordination, and early skill development. Children need to feel welcome on the court. They need to learn in a way that suits their age and confidence. By making the introduction positive, we help more learners stay interested.
Why Proper Equipment Matters
We also help parents with equipment choices. A racquet that is too big or too heavy can make tennis harder and increase strain. The wrong ball can make learning frustrating. We guide parents towards suitable racquets, balls, and accessories so their child can learn safely and enjoyably.
Free On-Court Assessment
The free on-court assessment is one of the best ways for parents to get clarity. It allows us to see the child in action and recommend the correct starting point. This helps families make informed decisions before committing to a programme. We want parents to feel confident that their child is in a positive, professional, and caring tennis environment.

Creating Opportunity for Promising Players
Tennis development can become expensive for families, especially when a player begins to show promise. Coaching, equipment, tournament fees, travel, clothing, and ongoing training can create financial pressure. Timeless Tennis understands this reality.
Where possible, selected promising players may receive support ranging from smaller sponsorships to bigger sponsorship opportunities through various brands, organisations, or partners. In some cases, Timeless Tennis may help facilitate semi-sponsorship support for players who show strong potential, commitment, and the right attitude.
The Purpose of Sponsorship Support
The aim of sponsorship support is to reduce pressure on parents while helping the player continue developing. A promising player may need better equipment, more regular training, matchplay exposure, or tournament support. Sponsorship can make these opportunities more accessible.
Selection Criteria and Responsibilities
This support is not automatic for every player. It is based on potential, commitment, behaviour, attitude, and development needs. Players who receive support must understand the responsibility that comes with it. They represent themselves, their families, the programme, and the brands or organisations that may support them.
Promoting Tennis Through Player Success
Sponsorship also helps promote tennis. When developing players are supported and given the chance to compete in broader arenas, they become examples of what structured coaching and opportunity can achieve. They showcase the promise of the player and the quality of the Timeless Tennis development approach.
Our Belief: Nurturing Talent
Our belief is simple: talent should be nurtured, not lost because the pathway is too difficult. While not every player will become a professional athlete, every committed player deserves the chance to grow as far as possible.
Timeless Tennis Commitment
Timeless Tennis is proud to play a role in opening doors, guiding families, and helping promising players take meaningful steps forward.
Why Tennis Is One of the Best Sports for Children
Tennis is more than a game with a racquet and ball. For children, it supports physical, mental, and social development in a powerful way. Through tennis, children improve coordination, balance, movement, focus, discipline, and confidence. Unlike many team sports, tennis teaches children to take responsibility for their actions. They learn to make decisions, solve problems, manage mistakes, and keep trying after losing a point. These are life skills that extend far beyond the court.

Understanding Red, Orange, Green and Yellow Ball Tennis
Many parents wonder why children do not immediately start with the standard yellow hard ball. The answer is simple: young players learn better when the ball matches their skill level.
The Tennis Ball Stages for Players
Red, orange, and green balls move slower and bounce differently, making it easier for children to rally, control the ball, and build confidence. The yellow ball is introduced once players are ready for the speed and demands of full tennis.
This article explains each ball stage, why it matters, and how proper progression helps children develop better technique and enjoy the game more.

How to Choose the Right Tennis Racquet for Your Child
Choosing the correct racquet is one of the most important decisions for a young tennis player. A racquet that is too big or too heavy can make learning harder.
Choosing Your Right Racquet
At Timeless Tennis, we start younger players with smaller racquets that are easier to move and control. As the player grows and improves, the racquet can become longer and heavier. Improper racquets may place unnecessary strain on the body.
This article guides parents through the basics of racquet sizing, comfort, manoeuvrability, and safe progression.

Preparing for Your Child’s First Tennis Lesson
A first tennis lesson should be exciting, not stressful. Many parents and children feel unsure about what to expect, what to bring, or whether the child will cope.
A Welcoming First Lesson
The good news is that a first lesson at Timeless Tennis is designed to be welcoming and relaxed. Children are introduced to the court in a friendly way, using suitable equipment and simple activities.
This article explains how to prepare for a first tennis lesson, what your child may learn, and how parents can support the experience positively.
